VISTA HOST INC. seeks a seasoned Chief Engineer to lead hotel maintenance across guest rooms, public areas, and essential systems. You will manage equipment, electrical, and HVAC, ensure safety compliance, and guide preventive programs to optimize operations and guest experience.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong technical skills, and the ability to train staff while collaborating with other departments to uphold the property's standards.

• Strong technical skills in building maintenance, particularly in hospitality settings.
• Hands-on and proactive, able to identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
• Leadership skills to train and guide maintenance personnel, ensuring quality and compliance with safety standards.
• Enjoys working independently while collaborating with other departments to maintain high standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain maintenance standards for guest rooms and public areas, following company and franchise guidelines.
• Train maintenance personnel in property upkeep and provide basic training to other staff as needed.
• Review and resolve maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders, prioritizing and scheduling assignments.
• Ensure property and equipment are maintained safely, with repairs per manufacturer specifications.
• Uphold safety programs (HazMat, Bloodborne Pathogens, SDS, OSHA) for the hotel.
• Maintain pool cleanliness, appearance, and chemical balance with maintenance logs.
• Function as an independent mechanic, analyzing problems and implementing repairs to a high standard.
• Respond to emergencies to protect guests, staff, and building systems.
• Monitor fire alarm and life safety systems, handling emergencies appropriately.
• Solicit bids from contractors, evaluate proposals, verify liability insurance.
• Maintain exterior grounds and landscaping for a presentable, safe environment.
• Maintain maintenance logs, inventory, and requisition parts.
• Implement and maintain a preventive maintenance program.
• Perform periodic cleaning projects as scheduled.
• Support energy management programs to optimize resource use.
• Assist other departments as needed and perform related duties.
