Job summary

Commonwealth Hotels is seeking a Chief Engineer, Hotel Maintenance or Hotel Engineer for our Brownsburg property. Lead maintenance operations, oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and safety systems, and ensure top guest comfort and safety.

You will develop preventive maintenance plans, supervise repairs, and collaborate with front desk and housekeeping to deliver a seamless guest experience. A strong technical background and energy-conscious mindset are essential for success at Commonwealth

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong technical skills.
In-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, as well as elevators and fire safety equipment.
Skills in developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules for long-term efficiency.
Ability to diagnose and repair issues promptly across a variety of hotel systems.
Understanding energy-efficient practices and systems to reduce costs.
Certifications like HVAC Technician, Electrician License, or OSHA safety training are preferred.
Awareness of how maintenance activities can impact guests and taking measures to minimize disruption.

Responsibilities

Oversee routine maintenance and emergency repairs for hotel equipment, systems, and infrastructure (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and elevators).
Perform or supervise preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
Ensure all hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces, are in excellent condition.
Maintain compliance with brand standards for property upkeep and appearance.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including fire safety and building codes.
Perform regular safety inspections and maintain records of certifications and inspections.
Monitor and manage energy consumption to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Implement energy-saving initiatives and sustainable practices.
Work closely with housekeeping, front desk, and food & beverage teams to address maintenance needs promptly and support guest satisfaction.
