Job summary

The Hampton Inn West Des Moines/Lake Drive is actively seeking a full-time Chief Engineer to oversee maintenance technicians and ensure the hotel operates smoothly. You will respond to maintenance requests from guests and staff, plan preventive maintenance, and supervise the on-duty team to keep facilities in top condition.

Description

The Hampton Inn West Des Moines/Lake Drive is looking for a full-time, Chief Engineer to manage maintenance technicians and ensure the overall operation of the building.

The Job

A typical day for the Chief Engineer includes responding to any maintenance requests from either guests or co-workers. You will be responsible for planning preventative maintenance measures and managing the maintenance technicians on staff for the day.

Job Duties Include:
  • Maintain all electrical and mechanical equipment used in heating, air-conditioning, refrigeration, water-supply, and power systems.
  • Comply with the preventative maintenance schedule and program.
  • Supervise employees in the maintenance area including staffing, training and performance management.
  • Ensure all work is completed to customer satisfaction with quick and effective resolution of problems and complaints.
  • Prepare and adhere to maintenance and equipment budget.
  • Secure and review bids from outside contractors.
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Environment

This job operates in an indoor hotel environment and outside. This job continuously uses tools and safety equipment. This job is occasionally exposed to fumes, gases, odors, dust, and biohazards.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, supplies or equipment; reach with hands and arms overhead and below the knees including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping; climb stairs; communicate or listen. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or place products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
