Job summary

Residence Inn Providence Lincoln is seeking a Hotel Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting across a portfolio of hotel properties and ensure timely financial reporting in line with USALI standards.

You will work closely with hotel operations to resolve financial discrepancies and report to the VP of Accounting & Financial Reporting. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 1–3 years in hospitality accounting required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience; hospitality accounting preferred.
  • Experience with hotel PMS systems and USALI accounting standards a plus.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily uploads of data from PMS and reconcile to source reports.
  • Complete bank reconciliations for assigned properties on a timely basis.
  • Prepare and post month-end close entries and accruals.
  • Create and reconcile account schedules to support the close process.
  • Serve as primary resource for hotel-level accounting questions.
  • Communicate with hotel staff to identify and resolve issues.
  • Assist with credit card processing discrepancies and reconciliations.
  • Support VP of Accounting & Financial Reporting with special projects.

Job description

The Hotel Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting operations across an assigned portfolio of hotel properties, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with company policies and USALI standards. This role serves as a key point of contact for property-level accounting questions and works closely with hotel operations teams to resolve financial discrepancies. You will report to the VP of Accounting & Financial Reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Daily Accounting Operations:
  • Performs daily uploads of data from hotel Property Management Systems (PMS) and ensures data ties out accurately to source reports
  • Completes bank reconciliations for assigned properties on a timely basis
  • Ties out daily hotel revenues and statistics and daily reports from operating systems
  • Calculates, files, and researches sales tax
Month-End Close:
  • Prepares and posts month-end close accounting entries and accruals
  • Creates and reconciles numerous account schedules to support the close process
  • Ensures general ledger accounts are accurate and properly supported
Property Support & Communication:
  • Serves as a primary resource for hotel-level accounting questions across the majority of the portfolio
  • Communicates directly with hotel staff and management to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve accounting issues
  • Assists with credit card processing issues, discrepancies, and reconciliations
Other:
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the VP of Accounting & Financial Reporting
  • Follows Company policies and procedures
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Familiarity with hotel PMS systems and USALI accounting standards a plus.
  • Experience with accounting systems.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with property-level teams.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines simultaneously.
EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE

1 - 3 years of accounting experience required, preferably in hotel or hospitality accounting.
