Job summary

Shamin Hotels is seeking a Laundry Attendant for our Virginia Beach property. Location at 4595 Columbus Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Schedule includes weekends and holidays; flexibility is required. Reports to Executive Housekeeper / Housekeeping Supervisor.

Responsibilities include sorting and washing linens, stain treatment, safety compliance, and stocking supplies. Positive, team-oriented candidates thrive in a fast-paced hotel setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Able to communicate in English, verbal and written.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Sort soiled linens and terry by type and soil level.
• Operate commercial washers, dryers, and folding equipment safely.
• Treat stains and inspect linens for damage; rerun or discard as needed.
• Fold, stack, and organize clean linens; maintain par levels.
• Deliver and stock clean linens and supplies to storage and floors as needed.
• Keep the laundry area clean and safe; clear lint traps regularly.

Position Overview

Job Title: Laundry Attendant

Location: 4595 Columbus Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23462

Reports To: Executive Housekeeper / Housekeeping Supervisor

Schedule: Variable hours, must include weekends and holidays.

Work Environment: Modern hotel in the heart of Virginia Beach's Town Center business and entertainment district

Job Functions:

• Sorts soiled linens and terry (sheets, towels, pillowcases, and other items) by type and level of soil.
• Operates commercial washers, dryers, and folding equipment safely and according to procedure.
• Treats stains and inspects linens for damage; separates items for rewash, repair, or discard.
• Folds, stacks, and organizes clean linens; maintains established par levels.
• Delivers and stocks clean linens and supplies to housekeeping storage and floors as needed.
• Keeps the laundry area clean and organized and clears lint traps regularly to maintain safety.
• Abides by the regulations set forth by the material safety data sheets when handling chemicals.
• Reports equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate team promptly.
• Transports soiled and clean linen carts between the laundry area and storage or floors.
• Reports for scheduled shifts, on time and in uniform, in accordance with company policy.
• Knows and complies with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Previous laundry or housekeeping experience preferred; no experience required - we'll train.
• Able to communicate in English, verbal and written.
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and cleanliness.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Comfortable working in a warm, humid laundry environment for extended periods.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
