Job summary

STR Mechanical is seeking a qualified Hot Side Technician in Chesapeake, VA to diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial hot side kitchen equipment. The role requires EPA certification and a strong HVAC background, with on-call flexibility and a valid driver license.

The technician will perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and ensure compliance with codes while delivering high customer service as part of a growing team.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a commercial HVAC setting.
• 2+ years working on industrial/commercial kitchen equipment.
• Strong knowledge of gas, electric, and steam-operated cooking equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
• Valid Driver License with acceptable driving record.
• Active EPA Certification.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.
• Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Position Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Hot Side Technician to join our fast-growing team. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and strong problem-solving skills, as well as an active EPA Certification.

Job Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial hot side kitchen equipment, including ovens, fryers, steamers, grills, warmers, kettles, and other cooking appliances
• Perform preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance
• Conduct safety inspections and verify compliance with manufacturer specifications and applicable codes

Accountabilities

• Continual learning and development in the body of knowledge through FirstCall Academy, to ensure we set the bar for skill level in the industry
• Elite level of customer service, to ensure we continue to be the FirstCall our customers make for their HVAC needs

ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT

This position reports to the local Service Manager and is responsible for engaging with the service team and all of our customers.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a commercial HVAC setting
