Title: Hot Prep Cook

Status: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Shift: Seeking availability for 8-10 hour shifts between 6am - 10pm, 7 days a week with rotating weekends

Position Summary

Prepares all hot food items for both patient and non-patient food services, following all production plans and recipes as assigned by the Executive Chef, Food & Nutrition Supervisor, or Production Leader.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Assists in tray assembly and preparing special diet needs (puree meals, supplements, or non-patient services).
• Knows basic food preparation techniques including receiving, storing, preparation, and holding of food items.
• Demonstrates knowledge of food service sanitation, infection control procedures, and HAACP guidelines, adhering to all practices.
• Communicates effectively regarding patient, non-patient, or department needs to the team.
• Willing to assist in other kitchen areas such as cold prep, bakery, storeroom, café, dishroom, or tray line when needed.
• Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies and applicable laws.
• Ensures compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Ability to read and recognize similarities and differences between words and numbers.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers.

Experience

• At least 6 months of fast food or kitchen food production experience.
