Job description

This multi-faceted position is responsible for assisting with the safe plant start-up, loading scales (computerized) and operating a hot mix asphalt plant to maintain production goals, and to perform repairs and maintenance as needed. Annual wage may range between $37K to $56K or more DOE. This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits. Subsistence (travel pay) is available when you travel for work please ask for details.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Take an active role in ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures.
• Operate computerized load-out control panel to produce hot mix/asphalt to specification.
• Assist with operating and maintaining an asphalt plant.
• Meet daily production goals by learning and performing all aspects of plant operations.
• Load hot mix asphalt into trucks.
• Communicate with drivers via CB or company radios.
• Learn and assist with the manufacture of asphalt to various mix designs and specifications.
• Learn/understand how to identify and inventory specific materials.
• Document information and perform some paperwork necessary for internal and agency reporting.
• Issue delivery tickets to drivers and customers.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES NEEDED:

The successful candidate will have the ability to:

• Understand, and support company safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
• Understand and comply with MSHA and OSHA rules and regulations.
• Interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions in English.
• Have basic computer skills.
• Know industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
• Assist/troubleshoot plant operational issues.
• Collaborate with crew, supervisors and owners in a complex production environment.
• Work overtime, including occasional weekends and night shift.
• Abide by Fann's safety and compliance policies daily.
• React and quickly adapt in a fast-pace environment.
• Be willing and able to travel throughout the state of Arizona for assignments.
• Have a High School diploma or GED (Preferred).
• Have knowledge of construction aggregates; basic operation of an asphalt plant and construction industry experience preferred (e.g., heavy equipment operator with paving experience).
