Job summary

AAF International in Washington state is seeking a Hot Melt Machine Operator to set up, operate, and monitor pleating and filter assembly equipment. You will ensure products meet specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements while hitting production targets.

Responsibilities include adjusting machine parameters, loading materials, inspecting finished filters for defects, and completing production records. Prior experience with pleating or automated assembly is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years of machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with pleating or automated assembly equipment preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and product specifications.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.

  • Set up, operate, and monitor pleating and/or filter assembly machines.
  • Adjust machine parameters to meet product specifications.
  • Load raw materials including filter media, frames, and adhesives.
  • Inspect pleats, bonds, and finished filters for defects.
  • Identify non-conforming materials per quality procedures.
  • Perform routine equipment checks, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot minor issues and escalate as needed.
  • Complete production records, work orders, and logs.
  • Follow SOPs and safety guidelines.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, waste reduction).
  • Collaborate with quality, maintenance, and production teams to meet daily goals.

Description

The Hot Melt Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring pleating and/or filter assembly equipment used in the production of filtration products. This role ensures products are manufactured to specification while meeting quality standards, safety requirements, and production targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and monitor pleating and/or filter assembly machines
  • Adjust machine parameters (pleat height, spacing, tension, adhesive application, cure times) to meet product specifications
  • Load raw materials including filter media, frames, and adhesives
  • Inspect pleats, bonds, and finished filters for defects, uniformity, and dimensional accuracy
  • Identify and segregate non-conforming materials in accordance with quality procedures
  • Perform routine equipment checks, cleaning, and minor maintenance
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical or process issues and escalat[?] as needed
  • Accurately complete production records, work orders, and equipment logs
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety guidelines, and work instructions
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, waste reduction)
  • Collaborate with quality, maintenance, and production teams to meet daily output goals
Requirements

Work Environment
  • Industrial manufacturing facility producing filtration products
  • Exposure to filter media, adhesives, and production equipment
  • Required use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.)
Preferred Experience
  • Experience operating hot melt or similar pleating/mini-pleat equipment
  • Background in air filtration manufacturing
  • Familiarity with production tracking systems (ERP)
  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience
