Job summary

Aluminum Precision Products (APP) is seeking a Hot Inspector to inspect hot in-process forgings, ensuring the forging procedure is followed and quality is maintained. The role requires reading blueprints, verifying dimensions with instruments, and collaborating with QC, press leads, and operators to uphold product standards.

Responsibilities include verifying surface finish, grain direction, tolerances, and participating in LEAN, SPC, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read blueprints.
• Must be a certified forklift operator.
• Some high school, vocational school, or similar work experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect hot forgings for fill and any visible defects including metal flow defects.
• Inspect down-size (die closure) as per the AQS plan.
• Verify the surface finish, stock location and grain direction.
• Use various measurement instruments to verify the dimensions of forged parts.
• Compare inspection data with the required tolerances based on blueprints, travelers, and any accompanying documents.
• Actively communicate with quality control personnel, press leads, and press operators to ensure quality forgings.
• Participate in total quality management projects to achieve continuous improvement.
• Participate in LEAN manufacturing and SPC activities as required
• Maintain an acceptable attendance record.
• Follow and respect supervisor’s direction.
• Ensure quality parts to meet customers’ and APP’s requirements.
• Work at an acceptable level of productivity.
• Maintain a non-combative, positive work attitude.
• Uphold safe and honest work habits and practices.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• In an effort to achieve continuous improvement, APP expects a willingness from employees to be cross-trained on multiple operations.
• Ensure adherence to APP’s policies and procedures, including our code of conduct and ethics policy, product safety, employee safety and cultural beliefs.
• Ensure adherence to all process specifications.
• Support the Plant quality system goals / improvements & productivity goals / improvements within the scope of the job.
• Perform any other duties not mentioned above when instructed to do so by the department manager.
