Quality Custom Distribution is hiring a Yard Hostler in Orlando to move trailers with precision and support a high-velocity warehouse flow. You will position trailers safely, hook and unhook equipment, and maintain strict DOT compliance while supporting a 24/7 operation.

The role is based in Orlando with night, weekend, and holiday availability. The pay includes weekly wages and comprehensive benefits, including health options and a 401(k) plan.

• Strong customer service skills and clear dispatch communication.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate trailer drop & hook locations with warehouse and transportation staff.
• Inspect tractor-trailer and monitor defects; pre-cool reefer units per spec.
• Operate tractor-trailer according to DOT regs for loading/unloading.
• Unloading of return trailers; wash/sweep trailers as needed.
• Chock wheels and ensure proper door alignment for departures.
• Verify departure times and match tractor to trailer for each route.

In This Role, You’ll

• Communicate with warehouse and transportation staff on a regular basis to coordinate proper trailer drop & hook location.
• Operate commercial motor carrier equipment and inspect and monitor tractor‑trailer for defects, check re‑efer fuel and refer temperatures. Pre‑cool re‑efer units to Company specifications.
• Operate tractor‑trailer equipment in accordance to D.O.T. regulations on or off company property for docking and loading/unloading of product
• Complete unloading of return trailers and wash and sweep out trailers if necessary
• Chock wheels after trailer is in proper door. Follow AIR LINE LOCK procedure on each trailer
• Verify unit departure times and align equipment; accordingly, making sure tractor is hooked appropriate to trailer for assigned route

What You’ll Bring

• A valid Class A CDL, current DOT medical card, and at least 2 year of tractor‑trailer driving and delivery experience
• Ability to lift 5–75+ lbs., stay active throughout the shift, and work in multi‑temperature environments (coolers/freezers)
• Strong customer service skills and clear communication with dispatch, store teams, and fellow drivers
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a 24/7 operation
• Ability to complete vehicle inspections, maintain DOT logs, and meet all compliance requirements, including reading and speaking English as required by DOT regulations
• As required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, commercial drivers must read and speak English sufficiently to communicate with the public, understand highway signs and traffic signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries in reports and records.

The Schedule & Setting

• Must be available for night, weekends, and holidays
• Yard Setting must be able to work in all weather conditions.

Pay & Benefits

• Pay Range (Base Pay): $24.28/HR
• Weekly pay (every Friday)
• Other Compensation: May include shift differentials, overtime pay, bonuses, or other incentive pay as applicable to the position and location.
