Job summary

Quality Custom Distribution Services LLC (QCD), part of the GSF family, is hiring a Yard Hostler in Orlando. This role focuses on precise trailer placement, safety, and keeping the local warehouse flow smooth.

The job requires a valid Class A CDL, DOT medical card, 2+ years of tractor-trailer experience, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays in a multi-temperature environment. You’ll be part of a 24/7 operation with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Class A CDL and a current DOT medical card.
• Minimum 2 years of tractor-trailer driving and delivery experience.
• Ability to lift 5–75+ lbs and work in multi-temperature environments (coolers/freezers).
• Strong communication with dispatch, store teams, and drivers.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate trailer drop and hook locations with warehouse and transportation staff.
• Inspect and monitor tractor-trailer for defects; check reefer temperatures and pre-cool units as required.
• Operate tractor-trailer in compliance with DOT regulations for loading and unloading.
• Unloading of return trailers; wash and sweep trailers if needed.
• Chock wheels and follow safety procedures on each trailer.
• Verify departure times and ensure tractor-trailer matches the assigned route.

Yard Hostler – Orlando

What You’ll Do:

In This Role, You’ll:

• Communicate with warehouse and transportation staff on a regular basis to coordinate proper trailer drop & hook location.
• Operate commercial motor carrier equipment and inspect and monitor tractor-trailer for defects, check reefer fuel and refer temperatures. Pre-cool reefer units to Company specifications.
• Operates tractor-trailer equipment in accordance to D.O.T. regulations on or off company property for docking and loading/unloading of product
• Complete unloading of return trailers and wash and sweep out trailers if necessary
• Chock wheels after trailer is in proper door. Follow AIR LINE LOCK procedure on each trailer
• Verify unit departure times and align equipment; accordingly, making sure tractor is hooked appropriate to trailer for assigned route

What You’ll Bring:

• A valid Class A CDL, current DOT medical card, and at least 2 year of tractor-trailer driving and delivery experience
• Ability to lift 5–75+ lbs., stay active throughout the shift, and work in multi-temperature environments (coolers/freezers)
• Strong customer service skills and clear communication with dispatch, store teams, and fellow drivers
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a 24/7 operation
• Ability to complete vehicle inspections, maintain DOT logs, and meet all compliance requirements, including reading and speaking English as required by DOT regulations
• As required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, commercial drivers must read and speak English sufficiently to communicate with the public, understand highway signs and traffic signals, respond to official inquiries, and make entries in reports and records.

The Schedule & Setting:

• Must be available for night, weekends, and holidays
• Yard Setting must be able to work in all weather conditions.

Pay & Benefits:

• Pay Range (Base Pay): $24.28/HR
• Weekly pay (every Friday)
• Other Compensation: May include shift differentials, overtime pay, bonuses, or other incentive pay as applicable to the position and location.
