Responsibilities

  • Move trailers to support production and close procedures for loaded trailers.
  • Maintain daily trailer inventory, security, and material tracking board.
  • Inspect trailers and yard dog vehicle; ensure compliance with HACCP & SQF programs where applicable.
  • Coordinate Platteville Barn pick-up during day shift.
  • Conduct hourly inspections of full trailers staged in the lot.
  • Report any deviations from food safety programs to supervisor.

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY

The Hostler position is responsible for moving all trailers necessary for production. They will be "closing", inspecting and moving trailers in the lot to provide seamless production in the plant.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS
  • All plant personnel have the responsibility to monitor and report any deviations from our Food Safety and Food Quality (HACCP & SQF) programs to your immediate supervisor.
  • Responsible for all movement of trailers to ensure a continual supply of raw milk, packaging material delivery and the "close" procedure for loaded trailers and all associated paperwork.
  • Inspection of all trailers and yard dog including yard dog vehicle checks.
  • Maintaining daily trailer inventory, trailer security and material tracking board.
  • Platteville Barn pick-up (day shift driver)
  • Hourly inspections of full trailers staged in the lot.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous yard dog experience required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass a Department of Motor Vehicle background check.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess the physical ability to work the entire shift in the plant’s cool, wet environment with temperatures ranging between 34-38 degrees or outside in adverse weather conditions will be a requirement. Standing, walking, climbing, repetitive bending, repetitive stooping, repetitive reaching with arms and repetitive grasping with hands and fingers. Must have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced environment working around production machines, warehouse equipment, forklifts, large trucks and tankers.
