Job summary

A popular casual dining restaurant in Daly City seeks a Host/Server Assistant to enhance guest experiences through friendly service and teamwork. Responsibilities include greeting guests, coordinating seating, and assisting with dining needs. The role requires the ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs and working in varying environments, with responsibilities towards safe food handling and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a welcoming manner.
• Coordinate the wait and seat guests.
• Assist throughout the restaurant by bussing tables.
• Smile and engage with guests to ensure a great experience.
• Know menu items to recommend and upsell when possible.
• Answer phones promptly and route calls as needed.
• Assist throughout the restaurant by bussing tables, delivering food and beverages, and supporting the team.
• Lead the lobby experience with Outback hospitality standards.
• Maintain safe food handling, cleanliness, and sanitation during shifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Make a memorable first and last impression.
• Greet incoming and departing guests in a welcoming manner. Seat guests in the dining and bar areas, ensuring a smooth handoff to service staff.
• Coordinate the wait and seat guests with a sense of urgency.
• Always smile and have genuine conversations with guests.
• Have a general knowledge of the food and drink menu and be able to recommend and upsell products.
• Answer the phone promptly and professionally, directing calls as needed.
• Assist throughout the restaurant by bussing tables, delivering food and beverages, and ensuring every opportunity to wow a customer is completed. Teamwork is essential.
• Lead the lobby experience for each guest, following Outback hospitality standards.
• Commit to safe food handling, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards during the shift.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.; able to work in hot and cold environments.
• Ability to walk, stand, or bend for long periods while performing essential job duties.
• For California-based positions: Responsible Beverage Service Certifications required (can be completed during training and up to 60 days after start date).
