Job summary

The Harrison Group is seeking a friendly host/hostess at our Virginia Beach venue to welcome guests, manage reservations, and coordinate seating with the dining and bar staff. You will announce menus, assist guests, and maintain a tidy reception area.

Training will be provided; prior host experience is a plus. Applicants should be able to work shifts, stand for long periods, and handle multiple tasks with excellent communication and safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Experience as a host/hostess preferred.
• Must complete restaurant training course.
• Health-safety regulations knowledge.
• Strong customer-service and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage reservations and seating.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests to the venue.
• Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists.
• Manage reservations.
• Escort customers to assigned dining or bar areas.
• Provide menus and announce Waiter/Waitress’s name.
• Greet customers upon their departure.
• Coordinate with wait staff about seating options.
• Maintain a clean reception area.
• Cater to guests who require extra attention (children, elderly).
• Answer incoming calls and address queries.
• Assist wait staff as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
• Experience in managing reservations.
• Demonstrable customer-service skills.
• Excellent communication skills (via phone and in-person).
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining and bar area.
• Availability to work in shifts as needed.
• Good physical condition to walk and stand during an entire shift.

Education and Experience:

• Previous experience as a host/hostess preferred.
• Must successfully complete restaurants training course.
• High school diploma; hospitality certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

The pay range for this role is:

15 - 17 USD per hour (Holiday Inn VA Beach North)
