Kneads Bakeshop in Harbor East Baltimore, opening a new Navy Yard DC location, seeks a friendly Host/Hostess to greet guests, manage seating, and guide guests through bakery, café and market spaces. You will be the first impression of our brand and help ensure a smooth guest flow.

Responsibilities include handling reservations, answering questions, maintaining station cleanliness, and supporting events as needed. Competitive pay and benefits are offered.

Position: Host/Hostess

Reports to: General Manager & FOH Managers

Salary: $20- $22 per hour

Kneads Bakeshop is an artisan bakery, café & market in a state-of-the-art flagship facility in Harbor East Baltimore. Kneads is a passion project by H&S Family of Bakeries to bring premium artisan baked goods, pastries, and food to our communities. Our wholesale distribution serves the DC/Maryland/Virginia region.

The H&S Family of Bakeries includes H&S Bakery, Northeast Foods, and Schmidt Baking Company to make up America’s largest family-owned variety bakery, proudly providing specialty baked goods to major industry retailers and small businesses throughout the United States. From humble beginnings, one small bakery in Baltimore has grown to become a staple in our community. We want to combine H&S’s history with the new age of artisan craft, creating a one-of-a-kind brand and experience, giving a modern face to H&S Bakery. We want people to see it, touch it, and taste it, to have a full sensory experience.

Kneads Bakeshop is expanding and preparing to open a new location in Navy Yard, Washington, DC. The Host/Hostess is to create a warm and welcoming experience as guests flow in and out of the establishment. Responsibilities include greeting guests upon arrival and providing a positive first impression of the restaurant’s friendliness and quality of service.

This position description incorporates the core responsibilities of the job. It recognizes that other related duties not specifically mentioned might also be performed, and that not all responsibilities may be carried out depending on operational needs.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Greets all guests upon entering/leaving the restaurant and assistsany relevant guest needs.
• Uphold a standard of excellence in customer service.
• Performs reservations responsibilities and maintains seating assignment charts.
• Manage flow of traffic and direction to the various outlets of the establishment (Bakery, Café, Market, Mezzanine).
• Answers telephone and answers questions accordingly.
• Perform shift change and/or closing duties.Maintain host/hostess station clean and organized. Ensure all menus are clean.
• Helps in set up, maintenance, and break down of service floor and stations.
• Restocks necessary supplies.
• May be required to assist in private events as needed and instructed.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the Bakery, including, but not limited to, those contained in the employee handbook.
• The Bakery operates 7 days a week. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and employees may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.
