Job summary

Trapper's Sushi in Olympia, WA is seeking a friendly Host/Cashier to greet guests, manage seating and the waitlist, and handle takeout and front‑of‑house operations with a warm, efficient touch.

You'll coordinate with servers and kitchen staff, process payments, maintain a clean host stand and lobby, and ensure a smooth flow during busy periods while upholding safety and hospitality standards.

Qualifications

• Prior customer service or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
• Strong verbal communication and friendly, professional guest interaction.
• Able to multitask and stay calm in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail when entering orders, quoting wait times, and processing payments.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must obtain a valid Food Handler's Permit/State Food Worker Card before start.

The Host/Cashier is the first point of contact for every guest and plays a key role in delivering the warm, welcoming experience Trapper's Sushi is known for. This role is responsible for greeting guests, managing the flow of the dining room, handling payments, and maintaining an organized and efficient front‑of‑house environment.

Description

As Host/Cashier you will greet guests with warmth, manage seating and the waitlist, answer calls, process payments, keep the host stand and lobby clean, coordinate with servers and kitchen staff, monitor lobby conditions, support to‑go order packaging, and follow safety, sanitation and cleanliness standards.

What You’ll Do

• Greet all guests with warmth, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to create a memorable experience
• Manage the waitlist, seating rotation, and table availability to ensure smooth service flow
• Answer phones promptly and handle takeout orders with accuracy and attention to detail
• Process payments, handle cash/card transactions, and follow all cash‑handling procedures
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand, lobby, menus, and restrooms as assigned
• Communicate clearly with servers, managers, and kitchen staff regarding seating, large parties, and special requests
• Monitor lobby conditions and guest needs, including ADA access and accommodations
• Support to‑go order packaging and accuracy when volume requires
• Follow all company safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards, including proper chemical handling and PPE use when cleaning
• Demonstrate teamwork, integrity, and respect while upholding a positive and inclusive work environment

What You Bring To The Table

• Previous customer service or hospitality experience preferred but not required
