Job summary

Omni Austin Hotel Downtown is seeking a friendly Host to join our Food and Beverage team in downtown Austin. The role greets guests, seats them promptly, and assists with reservations to ensure a welcoming dining experience.

This part-time position requires strong communication, multitasking, and the ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays. Knowledge of alcohol service (TABC/TIPS) and a Food Handler permit are preferred where applicable.

Qualifications

• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi task and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Flexible shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Alcohol training certification (TABC/TIPS) and Food Handler permit where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests with a friendly smile and provide superior service.
• Seat guests at clean, available tables and present menus.
• Answer phone and record reservations for large parties.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests when entering the restaurant with a pleasant smile and superior customer service.
• Seat guests by finding a clean, available table, pulling out chairs, and placing clean menu in front of guest.
• Answer phone and record reservations for large parties.
• Control high volume outside of restaurant.
• Monitor dining rooms for seating availability, service, safety and well being of guests.
• Assist servers when needed.
• Thank every guest upon departure, invite them to return, and wish them a fond farewell.
• Assist managers in opening and closing.
• Answering phone calls.
• Seating guests.
• Control heavy volume at Restaurant entrance.
• Knowledge of hotel property.
• Inform the guest about buffets.
• Attend to and anticipate guests needs.
• Familiarization with menu.
• Knowledge of daily specials.
• Assign guest checks.
• Perform any and all other duties assigned and/or required by management.

• Prior host experience preferred
• Must be able to multi task
• Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift
• Must be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 10lbs without assistance
• Must be able to work flexible shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must have alcohol training certification (TABC/TIPS) and Food Handler permit where applicable
• Working Conditions: exposure to weather conditions, hazardous chemicals, and exposure to all food and beverage options
