Job summary

Café Boulud, part of The Dinex Group LLC, is seeking a Host to warmly greet guests, seat them, and manage dining room flow. You will coordinate reservations, help VIPs, and support a seamless service in a high-volume environment.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of hosting experience, excellent communication, and a polished appearance. This is a front-of-house role with opportunities to grow within Café Boulud and The Dinex Group.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of high-volume host experience preferred.
• Strong communication and welcoming demeanor required.
• Knowledge of restaurant operations and seating flow preferred.

Job description

TheHost position at Café Boulud is a pooled-tip service role that works closely with the management team and all other front-of-house and back-of-house team members. TheHost is the first and last point of contact with the guest and is responsible for greeting, seating and saying goodbye to guests as well as maintaining the flow of the restaurant during service.

Café Boulud is inspired by Daniel Boulud’s four culinary muses: la tradition , classic French cuisine; la saison , seasonal delicacies; le potager , the vegetable garden; and le voyage , flavors of world cuisine. Having earned three stars in the New York Times as well as a star in the Michelin Guide, Café Boulud is both a destination and a neighborhood gem for casually elegant dining seasonal wine tasting dinners, Sunday brunch and intimate, private events.

Essential Duties:

• Work closely with the front-of-house team to contribute to a positive dining experience for guests
• Take and confirm reservations over the phone
• Be aware of regular guests/VIPs
• Be aware of the reservations for every service period
• Greet, seat and say goodbye to guests
• Maintain the flow of the restaurant during service

Competencies & Qualifications:

• Previous experience in high-volume environment (at least 1 year)
• General knowledge of and interest in food and wine
• Complete knowledge of service sequence and flow
• Operate Opentable accurately
• Able to take direction and complete tasks
• Organizational skills
