The starting pay range for this position begins at $16.32/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements. Reserve: a position averaging 20 hours a week (anywhere between 40-999 hours per year).
Hosts will courteously greet and escort guests to tables and assist in seating, ensuring Biltmore standards of service. The incumbent will maintain flow of seating by section throughout serving period. Hosts will also assist in preparing the Restaurant for service and maintaining the cleanliness of the room at all times. Hosts will answer the telephone, take reservations and maintain the reservation book, and assist in monitoring guests’ needs and all phases of the operation. The incumbent will also provide general assistance and support for the department, leadership, and company.
Previous customer/guest service experience strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have had previous food and beverage experience in a similar role in a full-service or upscale restaurant. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Demonstrated commitment to providing world-class guest service and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are required. Ability to think clearly and quickly in a fast-paced environment, exercise good judgment, and maintain composure under pressure is necessary. Familiarity with reservations software, such as OpenTable, is helpful. Attention to detail, speed, accuracy, basic math skills, and the ability to handle cash and credit transactions are required. The candidate should be proactive, take initiative, and present a professional appearance and demeanor, handling guest situations in line with Biltmore standards.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Endure various physical movements (stooping, kneeling, reaching overhead, etc.) throughout the shift. Ability to remain ambulatory or stationary as needed. Exposure to fumes, dust, and chemicals is possible.
Greet and acknowledge all arriving guests, escort them to tables, assist in seating, present menus, and ensure a welcoming environment. Maintain an optimal flow of seating, assist with table set-up, communicate VIP arrivals and special requests, answer phones courteously, and manage reservations. Respond promptly to guest needs and maintain positive relations at all times.
