Job summary

Juliet Austin is seeking a friendly HOSTPERSON for Arboretum to warmly greet guests, manage reservations, and seat guests to optimize dining flow. You’ll open doors when possible and coordinate with servers to maximize seating and guest satisfaction.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of host experience, can stand for long periods, communicates clearly, maintains impeccable grooming, and brings an outgoing, warm demeanor to every table and party.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly as they arrive at the restaurant.
• Open the front door for guests entering or leaving when possible.
• Manage reservations and walk-ins to maximize seating.

• Work closely with servers to ensure smooth operations.
• Record guest names and party sizes when immediate seating is limited.
• Notify guests when a table becomes available.
• Provide guests with estimated waiting times.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Warmly greet all guests as they arrive at the restaurant.
• Whenever possible, open the front door for guests entering or leaving.
• Manage reservations and walk-ins to seat as many people as possible.
• Maintain a seating chart and arrange staggered seating when needed.
• Work closely with servers as a team to ensure smooth operations.
• Record guest names and party sizes when immediate seating is limited.
• Politely find guests when a table becomes available.
• Provide guests with estimated waiting time.
• Accommodate special seating requests whenever possible.
• Seat guests based on their preferences and balance customer flow in service stations.
• Offer menus, place settings, and inform guests of their server's name upon seating.
• Inspect tables for proper presentation and completeness.
• Relay messages or hand off chits to servers and buspersons as needed.
• Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
