Job summary

Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego invites a friendly hostess to join our five-star resort team. You will greet guests warmly, coordinate seating, manage reservations, answer calls, and ensure the hostess stand and entryway stay clean and organized.

We seek a candidate with a Food Handlers Card, a high school diploma, and strong communication skills. This role requires reading, writing, and basic math, along with comfort using a cal culator and computer systems.

The Host will greet and assist guests in a positive, polite and professional manner. They will also maintain a proactive approach to solving any guest’s questions or problems. The Host will anticipate guests’ needs, and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency.

Job responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of hostess stand and entryway.
• Oversee maintenance of all Reservation and Hostess equipment, software and supplies.
• Communication of guest profile and expectations is essential to relay forward to servers and management.
• Perform general clerical tasks including utilization of Open Table.

Physical Demands

• Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by Restaurant environmental systems.
• Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day; must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 6 hours in length. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability to multi-task in a calm manner on a timely basis.
• Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill daily tasks.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
• Requires grasping, writing, standing, walking, repetitive motions, bending, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
