Position Overview

Busboys and Poets operates 8 multi-concept restaurant, bar, event, and bookstore locations across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. We are hiring servers for variable shifts.

Job Duties

• Serve as the initial point of contact for the restaurant, greeting each guest warmly, with a smile.
• Provide guests with menus and seat them at tables or in waiting areas.
• Receive and record patrons’ dining reservations via company software.
• Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and customers to ensure dining details are handled properly and concerns are addressed.
• Speak with patrons to ensure satisfaction, respond to complaints, or engage in conversation.
• Answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries or transfer calls.
• Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup.
• Inspect restrooms for cleanliness and availability of supplies and clean when necessary.
• Support the food runner/expo for to‑go orders, including checking IDs and presenting orders to guests.
• Collect payment when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
