Job summary

Groot Hospitality’s Komodo Las Vegas is seeking a Host/Hostess to deliver outstanding guest experiences and uphold brand service standards. You will manage greeting, seating, and guest flow, ensuring a positive first impression in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating with staff, maintaining menu knowledge, and assisting with reservations while upholding health and safety guidelines. This full-time role requires flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience.
  • Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

  • Attend all restaurant required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in Groot Hospitality standards.
  • Full-time availability with flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings, holidays and weekends.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing the proper uniform.
  • Follow food safety and sanitary guidelines issued by the Health Department.
  • Complete assigned side-work in allocated timeframe.
  • Have strong food and beverage menu knowledge.
  • Have complete knowledge of the floor plan, table numbers and stations.
  • Greet guests promptly as they enter the restaurant, making a positive first impression.
  • Greet guests warmly with a smile, making eye contact.
  • Know and acknowledge all VIPs by name.
  • Answer phones, keep accurate count of waitlist and reservations.
  • Collect and store menus. Maintain the cleanliness and preventability of the menus.
  • Ensure that all menus are current according to the most recent changes.
  • Replace all menus in poor condition after ensuring replacements are available.
  • Monitor which tables are in use, available, and about to turn over.
  • Be immediately aware when tables are reset and ready for guests.
  • Check for completeness of table settings.
  • Keep an accurate count of guests providing the kitchen and management with updates regularly.
  • Frequently check back with guests who are waiting in the bar area to be seated.
  • When a guest is leaving, always thank them and use their name when possible.

As a Hostess/Host, you help set the standards by which our restaurant is judged in your personal appearance, your disposition, and your attitude towards the guest. You are always in full view of the guest and have one opportunity to make a first impression.

Good communication skills are a must. Your working relationship with the entire staff is vital to the operation of the restaurant. You must be able to anticipate guest needs and communicate those needs to your service staff. Many times, you will be asked to take care of the problem yourself.

A positive attitude at all times is required. The goal is to be busy and friendly, even during peak periods. The position is required to work weekends and holidays.

General Duties and Responsibilities

The day‑to‑day responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Physical Requirements
  • Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Be mobile for a minimum of 6 hours on your feet.
  • Work with other hosts as a team, and with servers, runners, host assistants, managers and all colleagues during service to promote teamwork.
  • Communicate, with respect, to your team any pertinent information that may affect the guest experience.
  • Communicate with management if there are any issues that could affect the guest's experience.
  • If you see that something is not in the correct place, fix it.
