Job summary

Mambo Seafood Restaurants in Houston is seeking a friendly Host to create a warm, inviting dining environment and collaborate with service and support staff to deliver a great guest experience. You will open the front door, greet guests, seat parties, manage seating flow, and maintain the host station and entryway in a clean, professional manner.

English proficiency is required; Spanish is a plus. A Food Handler Certificate is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must speak, write and understand basic English.
• Spanish-speaking is a plus, but not required.
• Must have a Food Handler Certificate.
• Basic computer literacy and POS familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Opens front door and welcomes guests at the entrance.
• Seats guests and manages seating flow to maintain timely service.
• Sees only complete parties or parties with at least 80% of the total number of the party.
• Uses technology to effectively manage wait times and alert guests of table availability.
• Provides a friendly first and last impression for guests.
• Maintains cleanliness of host station and front entryway.

Mambo Seafood is a high-volume iconic Houston restaurant brand that has been in business since 1996. Mambo has 13 restaurants in the Greater Houston area, and one franchised operation in the Rio Grande Valley. Mambo Seafood is poised for rapid growth!

Summary

The Host is responsible for providing a warm and inviting restaurant environment for all guests. The Host works alongside the service and support staff to provide a great dining experience for all guests.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintains a professional and welcoming attitude at work and practices the Company service principles.
• Opens front door for guests and welcomes guests as they enter the restaurant.
• Seats guests and controls the seating flow to ensure proper tickets times from the kitchen.
• Seats only complete parties or parties with at least 80% of the total number of the party.
• Uses technology to effectively manage wait times and alert guests of table availability.
• Responsible for thanking guests as they leave the restaurant.
• Maintains presence at host station except when performing duties that require leaving the station.
• Maintains cleanliness of host station and front entryway.
• Serves as first and last impression of restaurant to our guests.
• Additional opening and closing side work related job duties and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Ability to speak, write and understand simple instructions in English.
• Spanish-speaking is a plus, but not required.
• Must have a Food Handler Certificate.
• Must be a team player and customer-service oriented.
• COMPUTER SKILLS
• Familiarity with point of sales (POS) system preferred.
• Basic computer skills are a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Stands and walks on uneven, slippery, and/or wet surface for at least 8 consecutive hours.
• Speaks and listens in-person to staff and customers for at least 8 consecutive hours.
• Speaks through radio and listens through earpiece for at least 8 consecutive hours.
• Clearly observes customer service in the dining room from up to 100 feet.
• Performs moderately strenuous activity for at least 8 consecutive hours.
• Routinely lifts, stoops, kneels, bends, pushes, and pulls up to 25 pounds, and reaches overhead.
• Performs other physical requirements necessary to perform duties and responsibilities.

Working Environment

• Moderate noise, fast pace, high customer traffic and ability to tolerate cleaning solutions regularly.
