Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Colton’s Social House in California is seeking a friendly, energetic Host to greet and seat guests, manage seating and flow, answer calls, assist with takeout, run food, bus and reset tables, and keep guest areas tidy throughout service.
You’ll collaborate closely with Servers, Bartenders, Bussers, and Management, stay active during shifts, and help ensure a smooth, welcoming experience from entry to departure.
At Colton’s Social House, Social Therapy starts before a guest ever reaches the table. It begins with how they’re welcomed, how the restaurant feels when they walk in, and whether someone is paying attention to what they need.
Our Hosts help set that tone—but this isn’t a stand-at-the-door kind of Host position. Hosts are active members of our Front of House team. You’ll greet and seat guests, manage the flow of the restaurant, coordinate reservations, answer phone calls, assist with takeout order, run food, and you’ll also bus and reset tables, maintain guest-facing areas, check and clean restrooms, assist teammates, and continually look for what needs attention next.
It’s an active, hands‑on position with a lot of variety. You’ll interact with guests throughout your shift, move throughout the restaurant, and often be one of the first people to notice when something—or someone—needs attention.
Genuinely welcome guests and create a positive first impression.
Manage seating, waitlists, and restaurant flow with accuracy and good judgment.
Escort and seat guests while helping set them up for a great experience.
Answer incoming phone calls and assist guests with questions and requests.
Assist with takeout orders, including taking orders, coordinating pickup, and helping ensure orders are accurate and ready for the guest.
Run food to tables and help ensure guests receive what they need.
Bus, clean, sanitize, and reset tables throughout service.
Regularly check, clean, stock, and maintain guest restrooms.
Monitor the lobby, entryway, dining areas, patio, and other guest‑facing spaces for cleanliness and organization.
Assist with cleaning, stocking, and ongoing sidework throughout your shift.
Communicate closely with Servers, Bartenders, Bussers, Kitchen team members, and Management.
Respond to guest questions and concerns and involve Management when appropriate.
Pay attention to what’s happening throughout the restaurant and step in where help is needed—at Colton’s, there is no “that’s not my job.”
Help protect the pace, cleanliness, organization, and overall guest experience throughout the restaurant.
In addition to hourly pay, Hosts receive:
Additional weekly cash earnings based on restaurant sales and tip-outs
Full‑Time and Part‑Time opportunities are available. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is expected.
Schedules are posted every Friday for the workweek beginning the second Monday after posting, giving our team advance notice to plan around their work schedule.
Previous Host or restaurant experience is welcome, but not required. What matters more is that you’re friendly, dependable, comfortable talking with people, willing to stay active, and ready to contribute wherever the restaurant needs you.
Host can also be a great place to learn how a full-service restaurant operates and build the foundation to grow into other positions at Colton’s. Growth isn't automatic—it comes from learning the role, consistently meeting our standards, taking feedback, and demonstrating that you're ready for more.
