Responsibilities

• Greet every guest in a friendly manner as they enter the restaurant.
• Check the host podium for complete setup of materials and supplies at the start and end of the shift.
• Escort guests to requested and/or prearranged tables.
• Assist servers with duties such as resetting tables or fulfilling guest requests.
• Answer the phone promptly with a friendly and cordial greeting.
• Communicate with customers and vendors, relay incoming calls to the appropriate people, and take messages.
• Direct customer complaints and other calls to the appropriate people; answer inquiries about reservations and seating.

WHAT YOU WILL DO AS A HOST

• Greet every guest in a friendly manner as they enter the restaurant
• Check the host podium for complete setup of materials and supplies at the start and end of the shift
• Clean menu covers, replace old or worn menus, and distribute them to bars and dining rooms
• Escort guests to requested and/or prearranged tables
• Assist servers with duties such as resetting tables or fulfilling guest requests
• Answer the phone promptly with a friendly and cordial greeting
• Communicate with customers and vendors, relay incoming calls to the appropriate people, and take messages
• Actively listen patiently and politely to customer inquiries and complaints, providing specific and accurate information about the restaurant operation, directions to the restaurant, and menu information
• Direct customer complaints and other problematical calls to the appropriate people; answer inquiries about reservations, review reservations, review reservation book, and inform customers about seating availability and accurately record reservations
• Prepare menus and reservations for the arrangement of tables and chairs for large parties
• Assist and direct personnel in the arrangement of tables and chairs for large parties
• Bid all departing parties a closing salutation and 'Thank You'
• Inspect bathrooms; clean and restock bathrooms with supplies as needed
• Check back at tables to ensure customer satisfaction and to work on customer relations
