Job summary

Creative Financial Staffing, LLC is seeking a senior Controller for a premier luxury lodging property in Texas. This hands-on, strategic role partners with ownership and executives to drive profitability, oversee accounting operations, and influence capital initiatives with a focus on guest experience.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of accounting leadership in hospitality, a CPA preferred, and strong budgeting, close, and planning skills to lead a fast-paced property.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
• Minimum 3 years of direct hotel accounting or hotel finance leadership experience.
• CPA designation preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead all property-level accounting and finance operations (AP, AR, Payroll, General Ledger, Income Audit, Reporting).
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes and ensure GAAP/USALI-compliant financial statements.
• Direct annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning initiatives.
• Analyze operational and financial performance; provide leadership with actionable insights to improve profitability.
• Partner with ownership and department leaders on strategic planning, capital projects, and business initiatives.
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, working capital, and funding requirements.
• Establish and enhance internal controls, policies, and risk management procedures.
• Serve as liaison for external auditors and financial advisors.
• Evaluate processes and implement improvements for accuracy and reporting.

Controller

This is a highly visible, hands-on Controller opportunity that combines strategic financial leadership with operational business partnership. You’ll work directly with ownership and executive leadership to drive profitability, oversee financial operations, support capital initiatives, and influence key business decisions. This role is ideal for a hospitality finance professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and wants to make a measurable impact on both financial performance and the guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead all property-level accounting and finance operations, including AP, AR, Payroll, General Ledger, Income Audit, and Financial Reporting
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes and ensure accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP and USALI standards
• Direct annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning initiatives
• Analyze operational and financial performance, providing leadership with actionable insights to improve profitability and efficiency
• Partner with ownership and department leaders on strategic planning, capital projects, and business initiatives
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, working capital, and funding requirements for ongoing operations and capital investments
• Establish, maintain, and enhance internal controls, financial policies, and risk management procedures
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, audit requirements, and industry best practices
• Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and financial advisors
• Evaluate financial processes and implement improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and reporting capabilities
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
• Monitor key hospitality metrics including occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, labor costs, and departmental profitability

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience
• Minimum 3 years of direct hotel accounting or hotel finance leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of hotel accounting operations and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI)
• Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and strategic financial planning
• Proven success overseeing month-end close, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls
• Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Director of Finance, or similar hospitality finance leadership role
• CPA designation preferred
• Experience within luxury hotels, resorts, boutique hotels, or upscale lodging properties
• Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and business partnering skills
• Experience developing and leading high-performing accounting teams
• Proficiency with hotel financial systems, property management systems, and reporting tools
