Facility Description
IU Health University Hospital is a 440-bed major teaching hospital recognized for its leadership in technology. As part of the IU Health Adult Academic Health Center, it is currently ranked by U.S. News and World Report. It hosts outstanding, nationally recognized programs, including the largest transplant program in the state. It serves as a tertiary referral center for highly subspecialized care in oncology, hematology, bone marrow and solid organ transplant, and is recognized for excellence in gastroenterology, pulmonology, and surgical subspecialties. It is home to the only NCI-designated cancer center in Indiana.
IU Health is constructing a new downtown hospital and campus, set to open in late 2027, consolidating operations of adjacent IU Health Methodist and University Hospitals. The new hospital will feature three 16-story towers with 864 beds. The IU School of Medicine is also building a new medical education and research facility nearby.
