Job summary

The VA Central Iowa Health Care System in Des Moines is recruiting two full-time Physician-Hospitalists to deliver Admission-Discharge, daily follow-up, and consultative care for hospitalized Veterans. The position emphasizes comprehensive inpatient care with collaboration across a team of physicians, APPs, and trainees.

The Hospitalist will participate in discharge planning, provide supervision as needed, and contribute to a patient-centered, quality-driven care model within the VA system.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in spoken and written English as required.
• Current, full and unrestricted medical license to practice in the U.S. (state/territory/DC).
• Eligibility for board certification in an appropriate specialty or equivalent training pathways.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient medical coverage for hospitalized patients.
• Assist with supervision of residents and medical students when on call or on site.
• Complete clinical documentation and discharge planning in accordance with VA policy.
• Collaborate with Hospitalist APPs and other care team members to ensure comprehensive patient care.
