Qualifications

• MD or DO with completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency.
• Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Internal Medicine.
• Hold a valid Connecticut medical license and CT Controlled Substance Registration.
• DEA Certification and ability to obtain attending medical staff privileges at YNHHS entities.
• Experience in hospital medicine or leadership development is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a Hospital Medicine Fellowship with focus on academics, quality improvement, and leadership.
• Lead a quality improvement project supported by a business proposal and presentations.
• Engage in hospital operations discussions with senior leaders and attend leadership activities.
• Participate in clinical teaching activities, morning reports, and student lectures.
• Complete formal courses in medical education, quality improvement, and leadership.

It’s a unique one-year program that provides training in academic medicine, quality improvement, hospital administration, and leadership. The focus on hospital administration and leadership is unlike any other Hospital Medicine Fellowship in the US. The program ensures 40% protected time for non-clinical activities.

• Gain experience in hospital operations, finance, and leadership through meetings with senior leaders.
• Lead a quality improvement project supported by a business proposal.
• Complete formal courses in medical education, quality improvement, and leadership.
• Participate in the Bridgeport Hospital Physician Leadership Academy and Yale’s faculty development program.
• Receive individual coaching from the Institute for Excellent.
• Take part in clinical teaching activities, including morning reports and student lectures.
