- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients admitted to the Bronson hospitalist service
- Manage chronic conditions and acute medical issues
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and the multidisciplinary team
- Assist in the emergency department with admissions to the hospitalist service
- Work variable shifts, including nights and weekends
- Participate in the Advanced Medicine Clinic
- Rotate between Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, Bronson Methodist Hospital, and the new Bronson Behavioral Health Hospital
- Perform comprehensive and problem-focused histories and physical examinations
- Interpret laboratory, radiologic, EKG, and imaging tests
- Correlate subjective and objective patient data and formulate diagnoses
- Develop treatment plans under physician direction within scope of practice
- Provide care in outpatient and inpatient settings
- Coordinate care toward patient outcomes, including discharge or transfer
- Act as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team
- Identify patient complications and apply preventative measures
- Support development and integration of quality measures and evidence into clinical practice
- Perform utilization review and apply regulatory and third-party payer criteria
- Facilitate timely discharge or transfer to the appropriate level of care
- Complete documentation supporting billing, medical care, orders, and progress notes
- Respond to nursing questions and evaluate patient status changes
Requirements
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
- Current unrestricted or pending Licensure in the state of Michigan
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient-centered care
- Licensure as Physician Assistant and state DEA license to prescribe medications
- Current prescriptive authority and collaborative agreement with oversight physician(s)
- Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges
- Ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, presentation programs, and other software relevant to the job
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing, utilizing SBAR technique
- Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served
