Job summary

Trinity Health's Chelsea Hospital is seeking a part-time Transport Associate to move patients between care areas and imaging departments. This 20-hour weekly role requires safe patient handling and clear communication with the care team.

You will work rotating shifts, maintaining required BLS certification, and using transfer devices. Prior healthcare experience is not required, but high school diploma and basic math skills are expected.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
• High school diploma or GED recommended.
• Basic cardiac life support required.

Responsibilities

• Transfer and transport patients safely between care areas and imaging/testing.
• Move stable non-monitored patients to inpatient units and imaging to admissions.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care providers.
• Speak with RN or Healthcare Provider before transport and after return.
• Assist patients with restroom needs as required.
• Safely transfer patients using transfer devices.
• Clean transport equipment between uses.
• Manage equipment such as stretchers, wheelchairs, oxygen and other necessary gear.
• Replace oxygen tanks when needed (below 500 psi).
• Provide directions to families and visitors.
• Maintain current BLS certification.
• Attend department meetings and ongoing educational activities.

Minimum rate of pay : Minimum of $15.82 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

• Transfer and transport patients safely and effectively from patient care areas to and from diagnostic/ testing areas.
• Transport stable, non-monitored patients from patient care areas to and from diagnostic/ testing areas (such as CT, X-Ray) and to inpatient units for admissions.
• Able to effectively communicate with the patient, family, visitors, and the direct care providers.
• Transporters are to directly speak with the RN or the Healthcare Provider prior to a transport and when the patient returns to the unit.
• Transporters are to assist the patient with his/her restroom needs as necessary.
• Able to safely transfer patients using a transfer device such as a patient sling, slide board, or other hospital approved transfer devices.
• Cleans transport equipment between each patient use.
• Transport, locate, and redistribute equipment such as stretchers, wheelchairs, Airpals, Stryker Glides, oxygen, and other necessary equipment to perform transports.
• Replaces oxygen tanks as needed (less than 500 psi).
• Provides directions to families and/or visitors.
• Maintains current BLS certification.
• Attends and participates in departmental meetings and continuing educational activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
