Job summary

Trinity Health in Ann Arbor is seeking a part-time Hospital Transport professional to transfer and relocate patients safely between patient care areas and diagnostic departments such as CT, X-ray, Angio, and inpatient units.

You will communicate clearly with patients, families, and care teams; assist with mobility and restroom needs; operate transfer devices; clean equipment between uses; and maintain readiness with current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills.
• Prior healthcare experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Transport stable, non-monitored patients between care areas and diagnostics.
• Communicate with patients, families, visitors and care providers.
• Speak with RN or provider before and after transports.
• Assist patients with restroom needs when necessary.
• Safely transfer patients using transfer devices.
• Clean transport equipment between patients.
• Transport and redistribute equipment (stretchers, wheelchairs, etc.).
• Replace oxygen tanks as needed.
• Provide directions to families and visitors.
• Maintain current BLS certification.
• Attend departmental meetings and continuing education.

POSITION PURPOSE Transfer and transport patients safely and effectively from patient care areas to and from diagnostic/ testing areas.

Required Qualifications: Education High school diploma or GED recommended. Basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic. Experience Prior healthcare experience is not required.

What you will do:

• Transport stable, non-monitored patients from patient care areas to and from diagnostic/ testing areas (such as CT, X-ray, Angio, Hemo) and to inpatient units for admissions.
• Able to effectively communicate with the patient, family, visitors, and the direct care providers.
• Transporters are to directly speak with the RN or the Healthcare Provider prior to a transport and when the patient returns to the unit.
• Transporters are to assist the patient with his/her restroom needs as necessary.
• Able to safely transfer patients using a transfer device such as a patient sling, slide board, or other hospital approved transfer devices.
• Cleans transport equipment between each patient use.
• Transport, locate, and redistribute equipment such as stretchers, wheelchairs, Airpals, Stryker Glides, oxygen, and other necessary equipment to perform transports.
• Replaces oxygen tanks as needed (less than 500 psi).
• Provides directions to families and/or visitors.
• Maintains current BLS certification.
• Attends and participates in departmental meetings and continuing educational activities.
