Job summary

TalentFish is seeking a Stationary Engineer to support hospital plant operations in Newark, OH. You will operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain high-pressure boilers, chillers, and auxiliary equipment that provide heating, cooling, power, and water.

This is a 3+ month contract-to-hire role with 12-hour day shifts on swing rotations. OH license, HS diploma, 2–3 years boiler room experience, and ability to train staff are required.

Qualifications

• Ohio Stationary Engineer license is required.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license is required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 2–3 years boiler room operations experience.
• Hands-on with high‑pressure boilers, steam systems, chillers, pumps, condensers, and HVAC equipment.
• Experience with water sampling and treatment, control panels, and plant logs.
• Familiarity with turbines, steam engines, and automated plant monitoring systems.
• Ability to work independently and follow safe operating procedures.
• Ability to direct and train Plant Operations Assistant staff.
• Swing-shift schedule availability.
• Ability to interview onsite.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and maintain high‑pressure boilers, chillers, and auxiliary plant equipment serving the hospital.
• Conduct hourly plant rounds, monitor gauges and controls for malfunctions.
• Record readings for steam, water, gas, fuel oil, and air pressure.
• Maintain boiler water levels, adjust feed-pump pressure, perform blowdowns.
• Collect/test boiler and water samples; perform chemical treatment and document results.
• Monitor automated plant controls and respond to alarms or failures by troubleshooting or escalating.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC and related building equipment.
• Coordinate adjustments with related personnel and document actions.
• Maintain a safe boiler room and plant area; complete required trainings.
