Job summary

Lifeshare Blood Center in Shreveport, LA, is seeking a Blood Products Distribution Technician to pick up and transport donor blood. This full-time position offers a base pay of $14.43/hr with extensive on-the-job training provided.

Position

Blood Products Distribution Technician

Job Details

Location: Shreveport, LA. Full Time, Mid-Shift. Base pay $14.43/hr with on‑the‑job training provided. Must be able to train on dayshift for the first 8 weeks.

Responsibilities
  1. Drive a company vehicle to pick up donor blood from collection sites and transport it to the appropriate locations.
  2. Prepare all necessary paperwork, separate unsuitable units, and package blood products and samples for transport to the processing facility.
  3. Monitor product inventory levels, notify supervisors when levels fall below established minimums, and identify/outdate products.
  4. Receive phone orders from hospital customers or other centers, document orders, select units, and charge out and fill orders.
  5. Package blood, blood components, and derivatives for transport or shipment, relabeling and converting products as required.
  6. Receive returns of products and document them appropriately in the computer system.
  7. Follow all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, OSHA, AABB) and comply with good manufacturing practices (cGMP).
  8. Participate in in‑service training, continuing education programs, staff meetings, and safety meetings.
  9. Maintain, organize, clean, and decontaminate the work area, equipment, and vehicles; report malfunctioning equipment or vehicles promptly.
  10. Make routine decisions pertaining to work duties as permitted under policies and procedures, and refer issues that could potentially harm donors, employees, or the organization to a supervisor.
  11. Meet and exceed customer expectations, adhere to established quality practices, and continually improve work performance.
  12. Model LifeShare’s mission and values in daily decisions, behaviors, and actions.
  13. Promote cooperation and communication within the team to achieve company and departmental goals.
  14. Complete other assignments and duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record (minimum 3 years of licensed driving history, no DUI convictions, and no more than two moving violations in the past 5 years).
  • Ability to lift equipment such as coolers, boxes, and supplies up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including on‑call rotation and irregular hours, often exceeding 8 hours per day, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting packaging labels and documenting orders accurately.
  • Dependable, punctual, and possessing effective communication and customer‑service skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of donor or patient information at all times.
  • Experience requirements: 6 months on‑the‑job training for LevelII duty; 12 months for LevelIII duty.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Requires possession of a valid driver’s license and commercial auto insurance coverage.
