Job summary

Nicklaus Children's Health System is seeking an experienced Public Safety Officer Supervisor to oversee a team of officers across hospital buildings, grounds, and offsite locations. You will hire, train, and manage performance to prevent fires, theft, and vandalism, ensuring a safe environment for patients, families, and staff.

Qualifications

• Active Florida driver’s license with an approved driving record
• 3–5 years' experience as a public safety officer
• AED certification per American Heart Association (AHA)
• CPI certification within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Develops, creates, and presents officer training programs for ongoing staff development
• Performs performance evaluations and career development discussions with staff
• Manages ongoing staff performance and documentation for promotions or termination
• Ensures licensures, certifications, and trainings are completed by staff
• Reviews incident reports and educates staff to prevent recurrence
• Sourcing, interviewing, and hiring staff and monitoring overtime usage
• Conducts thorough investigations of incidents and conducts witness interviews
• Leads fire control and fire watch activities and schedules drills
• Responds to emergencies as backup during peak times or understaffing
• Conducts rounds to ensure staff awareness during shift changes and safety checks
• Maintains compliance with OSHA and life-safety regulations
• Provides supervision of patients in behavioral health contexts per CPI guidelines
