Job summary

UNM Hospital is seeking a full-time Security Supervisor to oversee and monitor security activities, protect patients, visitors, staff and property, and act as liaison to law enforcement. This role leads and trains personnel, ensures compliance with policies, and serves as incident commander for security emergencies.

Responsibilities include investigations, escort services, vehicle operation, and daily shift reporting.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Related discipline is acceptable for education specialization.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal protection to patients, visitors, and staff.
• Conduct investigations and follow-ups on misappropriation, assault, robbery, or policy violations.
• Maintain awareness of fire and disaster procedures and safety regulations.
• Provide escort services to and from Medical Center offices.
• Assist with ground ambulances when needed.
• Manage parking control and remove unauthorized vehicles.
• Safely operate Hospital vehicles in compliance with policies.
• Conduct routine interior and exterior area inspections and document hazards.
• Serve as a role model to promote a positive work environment.
• Respond to situations presenting safety risks to people and property.
• Facilitate staff communication and problem solving; refer to appropriate resources.
• Supervise staff duties, training, discipline, and scheduling.
• React quickly and calmly under emergencies.
• Attend staff meetings to discuss problems and changes in policy.
• Encourage professional development through training and workshops.
• Maintain a daily shift report detailing incidents and duties.
• Review officer reports for accuracy and completeness.
