Job summary

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED.
• At least one year of experience in security services, public safety, law enforcement or military preferred.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to function well during emergency situations.
• Maintain diplomacy and cooperation in a stress-filled patient care environment.
• Valid driver's license and eligibility to drive under Iowa law.
• Must complete Mandatory Reporter abuse training within 3 months of hire.
• MOAB training within 6 months of Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify, report and document safety hazards per policy.
• Initiate investigations and relay information to law enforcement as directed.
• Manage inventory and storage of patient valuables and deposits.
• Maintain records of lost and found items.
• Assist in handling aggressive or violent individuals; summon police when needed.
• Collaborate with Newton Police Department, Jasper County Sheriff, EMS and nursing staff.
• Document incidents with detailed written reports after each shift.
• Provide directions, escort, and safety support to patients and visitors.
• Provide traffic control during helipad use and events as needed.
• Escort patients and visitors and ensure personal safety.
