Job summary

Mount Sinai West is seeking a Security Officer to patrol hospital buildings, protect staff, patients and visitors, and coordinate with supervisors on security matters. The role requires NYS Security Guard certification and at least one year of relevant institutional or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities include responding to inquiries, reporting hazards, securing offices, maintaining logs, and assisting in investigations while ensuring adherence to hospital policies and patient safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• New York State Security Guard certification.
• Minimum of one year experience as a security officer in an institutional or law enforcement setting.

Responsibilities

• Patrols hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders.
• Monitor conduct of visitors and question unauthorized persons as needed.
• Reports safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.
• Responds to inquiries for advice or assistance from hospital personnel and visitors.
• Participates in investigations; maintains records and prepares incident reports.
• Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities as required.
• Secures patient valuables or lost and found items; maintain logs.
• Maintains department policies, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Requisitions supplies and equipment as needed or informs supervisor.
• Uses hospital vehicles in emergencies to secure life-saving equipment outside the institution.
• Provides restraints of psychiatric patients as needed.
