Job summary

Mount Sinai West is seeking a Security Officer to patrol hospital buildings, secure property, staff, patients and visitors, and coordinate with supervisors on incidents. You will monitor visitor conduct, respond to hazards, and assist in investigations while ensuring access control and safety procedures across the campus.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of security experience in an institutional or law enforcement setting, and NY State Security Guard

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• One year of security officer experience in an institutional or law enforcement setting.
• New York State Security Guard certification and valid NY driver license.

Responsibilities

• Patrols hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders.
• Monitor conduct of visitors and question unauthorized persons as needed.
• Reports safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.
• Responds to inquiries from hospital staff and visitors for advice or assistance.
• Participates in investigations and prepares incident reports.
• Secures and unlocks offices and facilities as required.
• Secures patient valuables or lost and found items; maintains logs.
• Maintains policies, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Maintains supplies and equipment; requisitions as needed.
• Uses hospital vehicles in emergencies to secure life-saving equipment.
• Provides restraints of psychiatric patients as needed.
• Escorts personnel to parking lots and buildings.
