Job summary

Sharp HealthCare is seeking a Security Officer to protect people and property at its facilities in San Diego, CA. Under general supervision, you will patrol premises, control access, respond to alarms, and assist visitors with safety. Required: High School diploma, California Security Guard Card, and a valid CA driver’s license; hospital security experience preferred.

Weekend requirements: As Needed. On-Call: No. Pay range: $28.39–$34.62 per hour.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent.
• California Security Guard Card – REQUIRED
• Driver's License – REQUIRED
• IAHSS Basic Certification – PREFERRED
• Other College course in Criminal Justice, Sociology, and Psychology desirable.
• 1 Year of security related experience
• 1 Year of hospital security/healthcare setting

Responsibilities

• Responds to routine calls in a timely manner.
• Provide direction and information, problem solving, and escort services to both internal and external customers, treating each with courtesy and cooperation.
• When possible, officers should go out of their way to initiate brief contacts with visitors and staff to insure that their needs are being met.
• Screen members, visitors, and client employees to expedite their admittance to the facility
• May also provide patient escort, patient watch, provide safety escort, etc.
• Answer and monitor emergency call boxes.
• Patrols hospital interior, and grounds, being on the alert for persons or situations that threaten life or property.
