Job summary

Cooley Dickinson Hospital is seeking a Security Officer who operates under the Senior Manager, Security Services to patrol and monitor assigned areas, ensuring safety and security across facilities.

The role requires weekend and holiday availability, completion of required trainings (AVADE, OC spray, IAHSS, BLS), and strong judgment with good interpersonal and computer skills. Ground transportation and emergency response readiness are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• AVADE (Workplace Violence Prevention training required within three (3) months of hire).
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills required.
• Demonstrated basic computer skills required.
• Demonstrated good judgment required; ability to interpret and adhere to instructions.

Responsibilities

• Respond to security and life safety issues as needed.
• Tours buildings and grounds; minimum 4 rounds per shift to ensure security.
• Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning or detains them or notifies police as needed.
• Utilizes emergency equipment (alarms, extinguishers) appropriately.
• Completes shift reports and incident documentation.
• Maintain security equipment and environment; adhere to confidentiality and safety standards.
• Responds to calls for assistance and maintains a high response rate.
