Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must become Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) within six months.
• Must become Basic Life Support (BLS) certified within 90 days.
• Must have valid Michigan driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Experience in healthcare security preferred.

Responsibilities

• Make eye contact and greet patients, visitors, and staff professionally.
• Ensure a safe environment; protect people and property; intervene to reduce threats.
• Patrol buildings and grounds; respond to emergencies; assist with parking and transportation.
• Protect patients, visitors and employees; standby to prevent disturbances.
• Monitors surveillance and life-safety systems; coordinate with emergency responders as needed.
• Relays calls and messages; communicate clearly to facilitate hospital operations.
• Responds to alarms (fires, codes, tornadoes); assists with emergency response.
• Transports patients, visitors, or guests as needed; maintains confidentiality as per HIPAA.
• Completes incident reports with detail and factual accuracy.
• Must understand 24-hour time; perform duties in varied weather and shift conditions.
