Job summary

Nicklaus Children's Health System seeks a Hospital School Teacher to bridge hospital care with students' home districts. You will coordinate educational services, collaborate with medical staff and families, and implement individualized education plans to keep chronically ill students on track during treatment and hospitalization.

Responsibilities include assessing learning needs, arranging hospital homebound tutoring, and ensuring smooth communication among schools, families, and healthcare

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in a related field.
• Florida Educator Certification required within 1 year of hire.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• 1-3 years of teaching experience in school settings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain HIPAA-compliant relationships with patients and families.
• Assess learning needs and tailor academic support.
• Coordinate with schools and districts for IEP/504 plans.
• Refer families to hospital homebound services and tutoring.
• Document educational plans and progress in the patient chart.
• Engage with school staff, medical team, and families to plan re-entry.
