Job summary

Pscfl is seeking a Hospital School Teacher to serve as the primary liaison between the hospital, patients’ schools, and families. You will coordinate educational services for chronically ill students, collaborating with school districts and education partners to implement IEP/504 plans while ensuring continuity of learning during medical care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Child Life Development, Elementary Education, or related field.
• Florida Educator Certification required within 1 year of hire and kept active.
• American Heart Association BLS required within 90 days of hire and kept active.
• 1-3 years of experience as an Educator in elementary/middle/high school.

Responsibilities

• Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and families while adhering to HIPAA and coordinating academic needs.
• Assess learning needs, readiness, and adjust teaching strategies based on age and illness.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to support education goals and communicate with families.
• Facilitate hospital home bound and tutoring services applications as needed.
• Plan and document education plans for hospitalized children for continuity of learning.
• Develop educational resources for staff and students, addressing diagnoses and accommodations.
• Document communications and maintain data on hospital school program services.
• Engage with schools, families, and partners via calls, video, or in-person visits.
