Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is a full-service teaching hospital and Level I trauma center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. We seek a Refrigeration Mechanic with broad trades knowledge to read sketches and blueprints, perform boiler and HVAC repairs, plumbing tasks, and general equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma Required.
• Trade or vocational school graduation acceptable to reduce experience.
• EPA Section 608 Certification required within 60 days of hire.
• Certificate of Fitness F60 required within 60 days of hire.
• Certificate of Fitness G60 required within 60 days of hire.
• Q-01 Certificate of Qualification (COQ) required.

Responsibilities

• Have some knowledge of basic electricity and apply it.
• Perform minor repairs in San-I-Pak, compressors, pumps, fans, etc.
• Understand boilers and perform repairs as needed.
• Water testing and chemical treatment.
• Read simple blueprints, diagrams, schematics, etc.
• Perform minor plumbing repairs.
• Follow lock out/tag out procedures.
• Use hand and power tools properly.
• Perform minor construction, cleaning, painting, etc.
• Repair HVAC equipment (thermostats, mixing boxes).
• Repair doors and window hardware.
• Repair portable items (beds, cribs, stretchers).
