Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn is seeking a Refrigeration Mechanic - Brooklyn with hands-on knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, painting and HVAC. You will read simple blueprints and install/repair components in boilers, pumps, compressors, and doors/windows hardware.

Minimum qualifications include high school diploma, 4–5 years experience or equivalent trade/vocational training and required EPA Section 608, COQ and Certificate of Fitness F60/G60 within 60 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Five years experience preferred; trade/vocational school reduces requirement to four years.
• EPA Section 608 Certification, Certificate of Fitness F60, Certificate of Fitness G60 required within 60 days of hire.
• Q-01 Certificate of Qualification (COQ) required.

Responsibilities

• Have some knowledge of basic electricity and be able to apply.
• Perform minor repairs in San-I-Pak, compressors, pumps, fans, etc.
• General understanding and knowledge of boilers including repairs.
• Capable of water testing and chemical treatment.
• Capable to read simple blueprints/diagrams/schematics.
• Capable to do minor plumbing repairs.
• Follow proper lock out/tag out procedures.
• Proper usage of hand and power tools.
• Perform minor construction and demolition, cleaning, painting, etc.
• Repair HVAC equipment (thermostats, mixing boxes, etc.).
• Repair doors and window hardware.
• Repair portable items (beds, cribs, stretchers, etc.).
