Job summary

Novant Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Protective Services Officer to provide security for hospital campuses across the Charlotte region. You will respond to emergencies, monitor clinical areas, and support a safe, therapeutic environment within a healthcare setting.

The role requires a high school diploma, healthcare public safety experience preferred, and certifications such as IAHSS basic/advanced, NCPPSB armed security registration, with training in de-escalation, OC spray, and BLS.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Experience: Healthcare Public Safety/Police, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: IAHSS Basic and/or Advanced Training Certifications within 6 months of hire, required.
• NCPPSB Armed Security Officer Registration Permit within 12 months of hire, required; NC curricula for restrictive interventions within 3 months, required.
• Additional Skills: BLS/CPR within 90 days; valid NC driver's license; no criminal record.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls for assistance and ensure rapid, professional incident resolution.
• Monitor behavioral health units and provide direct support to clinical staff in high-acuity environments.
• Participate in firearms training and healthcare-specific security programs to maintain a safe, therapeutic setting.
