Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System is hiring for a hospital plant operations role at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. The technician will operate boilers, HVAC, water treatment, and related systems, following policies to ensure a safe, healthy environment.

Responsibilities include routine maintenance, emergency repairs, inspections, and equipment testing. A high school diploma/GED and 1–2 years in steam/HVAC operations are required; 3rd Grade Engineer license is mandatory.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1–2 years in steam plant operations.
  • 1–2 years HVAC experience.
  • 1–2 years troubleshooting equipment in mechanical/electrical fields preferred.
  • 1 year hospital plant operations preferred.
  • Third Grade Engineers License required at assigned facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Operates boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, water treatment systems and related equipment following policy and procedures.
  • Operates Emergency Generator and Transfer Switch System per Joint Commission Standards for reliability.
  • Maintains and tests HVAC and building automation systems to ensure a comfortable environment.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs of environmental control equipment.
  • Documents equipment inspections and test results for maintenance control.
  • Maintains inventory and coordinates parts for timely repair activities.
  • Monitors and documents work tasks for accurate maintenance records.
